Extra-Curricular Activities

Forest School

Forest School

Forest School

With its pedagogy originally rooted in Scandinavia, Forest School has a holistic-growth approach that places the child at the centre of the learning process with regular sessions taking place in natural environments.

In nature, children get to play, learn, develop their senses and body awareness, while understanding the world around them, in a more conscious and organic way.

We are fortunate to be able to travel to our own Forest School site in our nursery minibus making our outdoor learning in the forest accessible to all.

Gymnastics

Our partnership with Richmondshire Thirsk Dales Gymnastics gives our children the opportunity to engage in professionally coached gymnastics sessions. Our children access a range of equipment and develop their skills week on week, focussing on coordination, flexibility, balance and strength all supporting their gross motor skills.

Dance

Swimming

Swimming

Dance is an art form. It can be studied and learned and at a certain level requires technique and skill. Yet, to dance is also instinctively human. Dance expresses feelings, tells stories, demonstrates strength and power, connects people, creates ritual and celebration and, like art and music, it communicates individual and collective experience in a way that words sometimes can't.

It is intrinsically linked to our early physical development, as young children experiment with movement responses to the stimulus of the world around them. Through jumping, wiggling, waving and bobbing, even babies and toddlers use dance as a way to develop their gross motor skills. Plus, it's super fun!

Swimming

Learning to swim equips children with essential water safety knowledge. We are proud to be able to offer swimming lessons to our children from age 3, encouraging them to be water confident and eventually able to swim unaided. The ability to swim is invaluable and should be considered and essential skill for all children to learn. By investing in our swimming opportunities we can empower children to enjoy water safely and lead healthier lives.
